Smt. Saroja Sritharan

Smt. Saroja Sritharan is a highly accomplished violin teacher, originally from Sri Lanka and currently residing in the United Kingdom. She developed a deep love for music at a young age, inspired by her father, who was a harmonium player. She initially trained in vocal music under her guru, Smt. Kalaivani Ekanandaraja, in Jaffna, where she demonstrated her musical talent early on.

After moving to the UK, she pursued her passion for the violin and traveled to India to receive formal training under the renowned violinist Vidwan Shri Durai Balasubramaniam. During her time in India, she further enhanced her vocal skills under Vidwan Shri Poorana Praknararao. Upon completing her Diploma in Violin, she performed her Arangetram in London in 2004.

Following this milestone, Smt. Saroja dedicated herself to teaching, becoming a respected violin instructor known for her patient and nurturing approach. She has trained numerous young students, helping them grow in both skill and confidence.

In addition to her musical achievements, she has pursued academic excellence, earning a BA in Business Studies in London and a BA in Tamil Language and Literature from Tanjore University, India.

Since 2005, she has been actively preparing students for OFAAL examinations and serves as a senior examiner across the UK and Europe. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to music and the community, she was awarded the prestigious title of “Sangeetha Kala Vidushi” by the Oriental Fine Arts Academy of London.

சிறு வயதிலேயே தந்தையாரிடமிருந்து இசை மீது ஆழ்ந்த ஈர்ப்பைப் பெற்ற இவர், குரல் இசையில் தனது திறமையை வெளிப்படுத்தி, யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் திருமதி கலைவாணி ஏகானந்தராஜா அவர்களிடம் முறையான பாடல் பயிற்சியை பெற்றார். பின்னர் வயலின் இசையின் மீது அதிக ஈர்ப்புக் கொண்டு, இந்தியா சென்று புகழ்பெற்ற வயலின் வித்துவான் துரை பாலசுப்பிரமணியம் அவர்களிடம் பயின்று தனது திறமையை மேம்படுத்தினார். அதோடு, வித்வான் பூர்ணா பிரக்னாராவ் அவர்களிடமும் குரல் இசை பயிற்சியை ஆழப்படுத்திக் கொண்டார்.

வயலின் டிப்ளோமாவை வெற்றிகரமாக நிறைவு செய்த இவர், 2004ஆம் ஆண்டு லண்டனில் தனது அரங்கேற்றத்தை நிகழ்த்தி, தனது கலைப்பயணத்தில் முக்கியமான மைல்கல்லை பதித்தார்.

அதன் பின்னர், இசையின் மீது கொண்ட ஆழ்ந்த பற்றால், வயலின் ஆசிரியராக தன்னை அர்ப்பணித்து, பல இளம் மாணவர்களுக்கு பொறுமையுடனும் அக்கறையுடனும் பயிற்சி அளித்து வருகிறார். அவருடைய கற்பித்தல் முறைகள், மாணவர்களின் திறமைகளை வெளிக்கொணரும் வகையில் சிறப்பாக அமைந்துள்ளன.

இசைத் துறையோடு மட்டுமல்லாது, கல்வித்துறையிலும் முன்னேறிய இவர், லண்டனில் வணிகக் கல்வியில் பட்டம் பெற்றதோடு, தஞ்சாவூர் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் தமிழ் மொழி மற்றும் இலக்கியத்தில் பட்டமும் பெற்றுள்ளார்.

2005ஆம் ஆண்டிலிருந்து OFAAL அமைப்பின் தேர்வுகளுக்கு மாணவர்களைத் தயாரித்து அனுப்பி வருவதுடன், ஐக்கிய இராச்சியம் மற்றும் ஐரோப்பாவில் மூத்த பரீட்சையாளராகவும் பணியாற்றி வருவது அவரது திறமையையும் நம்பகத்தன்மையையும் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது.

அவரது இசை மற்றும் சமூகச் சேவைகளைப் பாராட்டி, Oriental Fine Arts Academy of London (OFAAL) அமைப்பினால் “சங்கீத கலா விதுஷி” என்ற கௌரவப் பட்டம் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
